It’s very possible that one day there is going to be a movie about Steve Rothaus. If we were smart we would buy the rights right now. He is a living legend. At the Miami Herald, he became (one of) the first dedicated LGBT mainstream journalists nearly 20 years ago. He probably was the first, but Rothaus is too modest to allow us to proclaim that. Rothaus has been quoted as saying that he wanted “the Herald to be out front, ahead of all the other news organizations in South Florida in terms of how we covered the LGBT community and how we treated people.” TV personality Steve Greenberg, and PR expert Lois Whitman-Hess, of the Lying on the Beach podcast, talked to Steve about his remarkable barrier breaking career.
